Hello!
I hope everyone’s year is off to a great start. I have to say that I am very excited for 2013! I have met my goal of blogging more regularly, been featured by Miss Mustard Seed, and gotten my hands on some great furniture so far!
I wanted to show you this piece. A piece that I wish I could have kept. A piece that was jaw dropping. A piece that got lots of attention and sold rather quickly! If you follow me on facebook or instagram you have probably seen it before. I realize this color is not for everyone… and that is why I have not used it.. until now.
Here is what I started with:
She was beat up.. Missing pieces of trim, hardware, and decorative pieces. So after glue, clamps, and sanding…I decided to grab some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Florence.
Look at her now:
She wasn’t at Restoration Emporium very long at all. She looks great in her new home tho!
Thanks for stopping by,

I absolutely love this buffet! The color is gorgeous. Did you glaze or dry brush on top of the Florence?
Thank you! – I actually used a dark wax on top of the Florence.
Beautiful, what color or type of paint did you use for the top part? Espresso? I cannot tell…also curious if you used that color underneath the Florence as well? Love this piece.
I actually left the top the original finish. It was a very dark stain and the finish was in pretty good condition so I left it alone. I painted the body with the Florence only. 🙂
The buffet is really beautiful and you did a fabulous job. Of course the Florence is gorgeous, but I’m really interested in how you got that rich, deep brown color on the top. Could you please share what you used for the top and the decorative piece on the back? Thanks!
Hello Linda!
It actually came like that! It was previously stained very dark and since the finish was still in good condition on top I left it!
Did you do a clear wax over the whole thing then do the dark wax?
Yes ma’am. I have found that if you don’t do the clear wax first then the paint really grabs onto the dark wax and you can’t play with it as much.
